Sometimes need to grasp rather than to understand

Things like physical training and feelings are not for you to understand but to grasp.

Grasping could be so elaborated:
A deem knowing degree;
but a wholesome aspect to apply.
Besides, to grasp would most of the time more efficient than to understand.

What's the different between this two?
grasping the crucial concept is the same with trying to understanding a particular article.

to grasp is some way that you can apply but nevertheless distinctively explain how; while to understand, in German, verstand, is to know something well enough to explain why and how so.
